LEKH Indian Literature festival

Swapnabesh UK Dreamcatchers and BAMNE Liverpool are proud to present the first Indian Literature Festival in the UK, hosted and supported by Ullet Road Church.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Ullet Road Church, this festival will celebrate Indian literature, language, culture, music, and storytelling in all its richness and diversity.

We are especially pleased that Ullet Road Church is able to support this important cultural event, offering the space without a hire fee because we want to help make this festival happen and to encourage the sharing of literature, creativity, and community across Liverpool and beyond.

If you live in the UK and are a budding writer on Indian themes, or if you would like to contribute to the festival, please let the organisers know if you wish to take part in any of the following:

Meet the Author
A 15-minute slot where authors can introduce, promote, and sell their published books. There will be a £10 charge per table. The Meet the Author sessions will be held on the stage.

Symposium and Panel Discussions
There will be discussions on a range of topics connected to India, including society and literature over the last 200 years, notable Indian writers of this period, contemporary writers, and the evolution of Indian literature. There will also be a special focus on women’s literature in India, regional languages and their contribution to Indian literature, Urdu literature and lyrics, and conversations around indigenous languages of the country.

Children’s Literature
This section is for children to participate by speaking about their favourite Indian book or author. Children will also be encouraged to read a short passage from an Indian book.

Literature and Music
There will be opportunities to explore Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, and other lyricists. Participants are invited to suggest regional language lyricists for discussion at the symposium.

Those wishing to take part in the Meet the Author section should send the title of their book, the front cover, and a brief synopsis by 6th May 2026.

Author and publisher posters are also invited for display at a cost of £5 per poster. Posters should be no smaller than A4 size, and authors or publishers are responsible for printing and bringing them to the venue.

Please note: food will be available to buy from food stalls at the venue.
