Sunshine and Jubilation for Sian and Shaun's Wedding Day!

Friday, May 26th, 2023, was a day marked with sunshine and jubilation at Ullet Road Church, as we celebrated the joyous union of Sian and Shaun. This wedding ceremony distinguished itself with a delightful divergence from customary hymns. Instead, family and friends lifted their voices to vibrant tunes like "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys, and the evergreen "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Frankie Valli.

The guests enchanting voices were further complemented by the expertly arranged floral decorations that adorned our cherished church. Reverend Phil Waldron, always a purveyor of unique rituals, introduced a particularly poignant ceremony - the Last Kiss/First Kiss. This moment saw the mothers ascend to the chancel; their role underscored by Rev. Phil's moving words. They bestowed upon their children the last kiss as singles before the couple sealed their vows with their first as a married pair. The profound emotional resonance of this moment was apparent in the joy-filled tears of our congregants.

Post-ceremony, the newlyweds were greeted by a shower of confetti, an event which might give our church gardener a busy day but signifies the lively spirit of our beloved church. We say, bring on the confetti!

Following the ceremony, photographs were captured in our picturesque church gardens while guests were treated to refreshments in the church library and cloisters. The day's festivities continued as guests embarked on a bus journey into the city centre for an evening of celebrations.

It was my privilege to catch up with the couple after their big day, and their radiant smiles reflected the joy of their new union. Their words resound in our church's halls - it was indeed the best day of their lives! It's moments like these that remind us of the beautiful role we play in life's most joyous ceremonies. - Rev.
