Affirming the Rights and Humanity of All

At Ullet Road Church, we hold deeply to the values of fairness, kindness, and respect for all people. Recent developments across the Atlantic have prompted reflection on the importance of standing together to affirm the dignity and rights of every individual, including transgender and nonbinary people.

We acknowledge the challenges that these communities face, not just in far-off places, but here in our own society. It is our conviction that everyone, regardless of their gender identity or expression, deserves to live authentically, free from discrimination and fear.

As a liberal congregation, we remain committed to fostering understanding and compassion. To this end, we affirm:

• A commitment to advocacy: To raise awareness and gently challenge prejudice wherever it arises.
• A dedication to learning: To deepen our own understanding of the lived experiences of transgender and nonbinary individuals, always listening with open hearts and minds.
• The creation of safe spaces: To ensure that Ullet Road Church is a welcoming and inclusive community for all, where diversity is celebrated.

While events abroad may seem distant, the principles they touch upon are universal. They remind us that the work of justice begins close to home, in our daily actions and the way we treat one another.

With humility and hope, we stand alongside those striving for fairness and equality. In doing so, we recommit ourselves to the work of building a world where every individual is valued for who they are.
