Aq'Ab'Al Maya Cacoa ceremony and Kirtan

A ceremonial evening with Laurie & Emma gathering round the fire to offer our prayers of gratitude and grief to the fire as we let go of this year and welcome the returning light. We’d love to share this offering with you and connect the hearts of our community for an evening of prayer & song. A time that can be so hectic and overwhelming. To give us a space to reflect on what this year has brought, what we wish to let go of, and what we are welcoming in for this next cycle. There are 20 energies of the sacred Maya Cholq’ij day-count (calendar), each day is represented by a number and a Nawal (energy of the cosmos and nature). Attuning to the specific energy of the Nawales provides reflection on how to be a better person, community member, and steward for our planet. This WINTER SOLSTICE we celebrate 6 AQ’AB’AL, representing DARK & LIGHT, DUALITY & CONCEPTION. Aq’ab’al is two opposing and harmonious energies; the darkest time of night and the first ray of sunlight. It represents a renewing force, letting go of the reins and heading in a new direction. Aq’ab’al is a strong sacred day for ceremony to ask Ajaw, the Creator for humility and blessings. Cosmically it is a day to forgive our ancestors, to open your heart to ancestral wisdom & relationships in all parts of life, to bask in and honour the beauty of feminine and masculine energies that exist within and without. A good day to dialogue with our own light and darkness, our joys and fears.
